New Ideas

Happy Monday!

This week we have been getting a lot of really good ideas on things to try in our missionary work. A lot of them have been coming from my last companion in Suwanee. Sister Groneman and Sister Lovell are on fire with good ideas, so I'm stealing them as I hear them :) One has to do with tracting. Everyone who knows about missionary work knows that tracting is the least successful way to find people. However, the Suwanee sisters have come up with a great idea to make it productive. Since we are trying to advertise Mormon.org for the campaign coming to Atlanta this month, we are filling out the backs of our Mormon.org cards with names of people with video profiles. We are then going around different neighborhoods placing the cards in doors (no knocking). Then in two weeks we will go back to the same neighborhoods and knock on all the doors. Those who are elect will have checked out the website. I am really hopeful that it will work! By the way...go check out Erick Lund, Chance Clarkson, and Sarah & Joshua Shaw on Mormon.org. They are my favorite video profiles to watch! :)

Another idea that came from someone in the stake is to work with every home-teaching/visiting-teaching companionship in the ward. We will be going with them to all of their visits. This way we meet everyone in the ward, and we will be able to get in with the part-member families and hopefully start teaching them. I think it is a great idea. We also get much needed lessons in. We have been running low on people to teach, so I feel like my teaching skills are going away. Can't let that happen, now can I?!

We are still doing our "Race" with the youth in the ward. We gave everyone that wanted to participate a copy of the Book of Mormon, a couple of pamphlets, and a stack of Mormon.org cards to pass out to friends and family. For every missionary experience they have, they get a certain number of points. For example: if they share their testimony they get 10 points, if they give away a Book of Mormon they get 25 points, if they have someone over for family home evening they get 30 points, etc. It gives them the opportunity to share the gospel, and it gets them excited about doing missionary work. We are also hoping to gain some investigators from it.

The M family is still doing great! They did all of their family home evening last week. Instead of Sister Smith and me teaching the lesson, Carla did. And instead of us doing the activity, one of the girls did. They are really enjoying it and we can see that they are growing closer as a family. I look forward to going there tonight to see what they have planned for this weeks family home evening.

I know that the gospel brings families closer, and that it can and will strengthen family relationships. I am so grateful for the knowledge that my family will be together forever. Have a great week, and don't forget to read your Book of Mormon!
